Apples and Oranges, Pink Shirt Day

Monday, February 24th, 2014:

Today our students were treated to a fantastic performance called Apples and Oranges.  The underlying theme of this presentation was that although we are all as different as apples and oranges, we are all the same ~ we are human beings who deserve to be respected, valued, understood, and acknowledged for what he have to offer to others. The theme also addressed that our friends can come in many different shapes, sizes, flavours, and varieties.

This fits in nicely with our over arching work this month and the skyscrapers in our school. We are trying to capture the importance of friendship and fitting in as well as doing kind acts for each other.  The skyscrapers are a representative of how many acts of kindness and bucketfilling we are aware of.

Mrs. Vasarhelyi’s class is currently expanding this theme to include friendship.  Her class recently watched a video called “Friendship Soup” and created their own friendship soups as a result.
