Weekly Update: September 30-October 4th, 2013

A Great Week Ahead:

As we finalize our first month of school, I must say that I am impressed by the behaviour of the students at recess and lunch.  They are enjoying the fall weather by playing soccer and climbing on the new playground equipment.  A big thank you to the PAC for organizing and fundraising for this equipment.  It is keeping our students active and safe.

FSJ Family Week begins on October 5th and runs until October 12th.  This is a full week of activities supported by many organizations in FSJ.  You can find out some of the activities planned at the following website:  http://www.familyfriendlycommunity.ca/spotlight  .

We had our first fire drill last week. It took us quite a long time ( over 5 minutes) to safely exit the school.  We will have another fire drill on Tuesday at 2:15 pm and a second fire drill some time through the week so that the students get used to what we need to do at this time.

School Library:  If you have pre-school students who would like to access our library books please stop by daily between 8:45-9:00 to sign up for library books.  Mrs. Dressler and Mrs. Scheck will be excited to help you.  Currently the Thanksgiving Day and Halloween books are on display.  We will have a Scholastic Book Fair in October and this is an excellent opportunity for you to pick up great books.

Daddy and Me:  Daddy and Me evening sessions will begin on Wednesday, October 9th from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  This is a great session for dads to come and enjoy the gym with two district staff members to facilitate.  These sessions are open to ALL dads in FSJ and their children 0-6 years old.  They will be held in our gym on the second Wednesday of each month.

With cooler weather arriving, please remind your children to wear appropriate clothing – including gloves.  Some of our little people were quite chilly last week.

Enjoy the first week of October.
